Standalone ECU Commissioning
Base-map setup, sensor calibration, I/O verification, trigger sync, timing-light verification, first start, idle, fuel, ignition and protection strategy.
Start intake →Standalone ECU commissioning, inherited-tune diagnosis, turbo and supercharger calibration, drivability work and dyno tuning—supported by nearby dyno and installation partners when the project needs more than calibration.
FEF Performance is a family-based, veteran-owned tuning business focused on standalone ECU setup, first-start support and calibration. The goal is not to chase a dyno number at any cost—it is to understand the combination, prove the hardware and calibration inputs, and leave the owner with a vehicle and file history that make sense.
FEF's owner/tuner is currently pursuing engineering studies while continuing EFI-specific education through HP Academy VIP coursework and technical resources.
Base-map setup, sensor calibration, I/O verification, trigger sync, timing-light verification, first start, idle, fuel, ignition and protection strategy.
Start intake →For vehicles that never started, stopped running, changed hands or arrived with an unknown calibration. Previous files and changes are reviewed before altering the map.
Submit project →Fuel pressure, wastegate strategy, boost control, lambda, ignition, heat management, drivability and engine protection under controlled load.
Project examples →Dyno-only testing, live ECU reading/editing, and access to nearby engine-swap and installation support for projects that need more than tuning.
Meet the partners →The visuals below represent the kinds of projects FEF Performance works with. Actual ECU, firmware, hardware condition and scope are confirmed before a booking is accepted.

VEMS and other supported standalones, supercharged or turbocharged combinations, inherited projects and drivability work.

Wastegate strategy, boost control, fuel pressure, lambda, ignition, torque delivery and protection logic.

Base calibration correction, fueling, ignition, bypass behavior, heat management and repeatable power delivery.

FEF handles ECU commissioning and calibration while JP's Performance can support engine-swap and installation work by project quote.
Real customer feedback is more valuable than generic claims. As additional customer reviews are approved, this section can grow into a full review wall.
“I had a 1997 VR6 supercharged Jetta on VEMS that hadn’t run in over three years. I had honestly given up hope. After dropping it off, the car was alive and driving again within a week. What stood out most was not just getting it running, but taking the time to explain what was fixed, what had been accomplished, and what the next steps would be to take the car to the next level.
FEF Performance, Good From Far Garage and JP's Performance are independently operated businesses that collaborate on selected projects. Customers can access calibration, dyno capability and mechanical/installation support without one business pretending to perform every trade.
Family-based, veteran-owned standalone ECU commissioning, no-start diagnosis and dyno calibration. Continuing education includes engineering studies and HP Academy VIP EFI coursework/resources.
Dedicated dyno services for testing, data collection and collaborative tuning work. The dyno operator brings hands-on dyno experience and has attended Holley EFI training.
Custom engine swaps, performance installs and project-based mechanical work. JP's Performance and FEF also collaborate on selected standalone ECU installation and commissioning projects.
FEF Performance combines hands-on project work with continuing technical education. The owner/tuner is currently pursuing engineering studies and uses HP Academy VIP EFI coursework/resources alongside current ECU and hardware documentation.
Currently pursuing engineering education to deepen the technical foundation behind diagnostics and calibration work.
Ongoing access to EFI tuning coursework, technical resources and platform-specific learning material.
Build history, safe startup, sensor plausibility, dyno progression and final file backups are treated as part of the job—not optional extras.
Final pricing depends on project condition and scope. Mechanical, wiring, fuel-system or fabrication faults requiring diagnosis or repair are separate from the tuning package.
